Gaming: FIFA 2009 Review

As there is not much sports on at the moment apart from the premiership, I decided to write an article on FIFA 2009.

Now as a long time converted PES fan, I was sceptical about even bother playing FIFA on a 42 inch TV in HD, lol, but I did any way, and I have to say I am impressed, the game has really developed on pass and move, movement off the ball is a really important feature and the skill that you can do is simply amazing!

They make it hard for you to run at players which also is quite good, it makes you force the play by passing a bit more, the though ball system is excellent, the best part of the game is finding those key runs and giving clinical passes.

The best thing about the game though is the realism in looks, it really does look like you are watching an actual match that’s how good it looks, the fluidity of the player on the ball looks really sick, and in general the close up shot of the players are better than ever.

The draw backs of the game is that its too easy, I played the game for nearly an hour and it felt like each game was a copy of the other, no matter if you play with Liverpool, United, Chelsea or Arsenal, it feels like you are playing with the same team and the same players, just different kit – sure come players are faster than others, but the variation in their skill levels is really not as detailed as PES, also the shooting is mindless, PES requires very skilful shooting and balance and position is everything.

The pass and move I mentioned earlier is good, but not compared to PED, it doesn’t require too much skill, where as PES makes you think in its pass and move, how to judge a pass etc..

One final thing about PES, tactics is everything, I have played many games with Jai-Lee, and one game where he has thrashed me 4-0, and I go and edit my tactics, bring on key players, and end up beating him. There is so much intelligence in PES its great, but looks wise it still appears a bit robotic, pitch realism still isn’t there, it just feels like a computer game, new PES 2009

It boils down to this, FIFA used to always be like a girl who looked great but no personality, PES always was no looks and fantastic personality, FIFA 2009 though is great looks and pretty good personality, but can bore you at times. So its your choice! I am going to stick with PES!
