Peter Crouch has completed his move away from the south coast side Portsmouth, following his old manger Harry Redknapp to Tottenham Hotspurs. Although the full reports are still coming in the fee is believed to be around the £10-12 Million mark.
Its not a bad signing by Spurs, they do not have a player like him so he will defiantly add something different to the squad. It probably does mean that Huntelaar will not be heading to this North London club, Maybe the other one…
Finally this does leave poppy incredibly short up front: leaving just Nugent and Kanu. (poppy squad)
A little disappointing last season but Spurs will definately challenge for 5th spot this year. A great manager with a good team that could become great, but he needs time at the job. With time and funding, Tottenham Hotspurs could make a serious challenge to break the “Big Four”. As long as they avoid ‘Classic Spurs’ and attempt to buy Robinho every year.
Strengths:
- Dimitar Berbatov (if they can keep him): A great player, playing for a decent side which isn’t a good match. He definately belongs in the Champions League and is undoubtably Spurs’ best player.
- Ledley King (if he’s fit): Hasn’t played a game of football for five years but is one of their best defenders. If he can stay fit, they’ll do a lot better.
Weakness:
- Over-ambitious: We’ve lost count at the number of top-class players this team has tried to buy. They should of got the picture after Robinho said “who are Tottenham?”
- Loss of Robbie Keane: We rate him very highly on this blog as he is Ireland’s all time top goalscorer (not that he has much to compete with). He will be missed unless they get a good replacement.
Our Predictions:
- J-Lee: It’s quite simple. With Berbatov – 5th. Without Berbatov – 7th.
Transfers:
- Striker(s): With Defoe and Keane departed and possibly Berbatov, Spurs will need a bigger attacking threat to challenge for their desired Champions League position.
